The Factory Next Door is the brilliant podcast series from journalist Steve Duke. In each episode, Steve shines a light on one of our nation's great producers and craftspeople, from bespoke slipper-makers to handmade car builders.

When Steve asked to visit us at the vineyard, we were thrilled to take him amongst the vines with Jon and into the winery with Mary. The resulting podcast episode is a really insightful tour of Gusbourne - a lovely listen for a winter weekend.

Here's how Steve describes the episode:

Chief Vineyard Manager Jon Pollard explains why the number of hectares under vine in England and Wales has quadrupled in the past 25 years, talks about managing the changing climate, as well as getting back to traditional farming methods and why sheep are welcome visitors to the estate.

Also on the show, Gusbourne’s head winemaker Mary Bridges chats about the ‘salt’ and ‘pepper’ of winemaking, the joy of harvesting, and reveals she occasionally wants someone else to pick the wine when out with friends.
